The St. Regis Florence delivers a refined, old-world luxury experience set inside a Renaissance palace, where historic grandeur and attentive service feel deeply intertwined. It’s a property that leans unapologetically into ritual, beauty, and service—less concerned with modern minimalism and more focused on creating a sense of occasion at every turn.
Matt and I have stayed here before, but this time we returned with the boy. It remains one of our favorite properties in the world—beautiful rooms, exceptional staff, and excellent dining. This is not a cheap hotel, so we redeemed Marriott points for our two-night stay (which, frankly, feels like one of the better uses of points anywhere in the system).

Location
The St. Regis sits directly along the Arno, and the positioning is quietly perfect in a way that doesn’t fully reveal itself until you’re there.
You’re just far enough removed from the chaos that Florence can bring—no crowds spilling into your front door, no constant noise—but close enough that everything is effortlessly walkable. The walk to the Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, and the historic center is about 10 minutes, and it’s not just convenient—it’s genuinely beautiful.

This is the kind of location that allows you to experience Florence without feeling consumed by it. You step out, take in the city on your terms, and then retreat back into calm. That balance is harder to find than people think.
Pre-Arrival / Butler Magic
This is where the St. Regis Florence separates itself—not just from other St. Regis properties, but from most luxury hotels, period.
The brand promises butler service, but Florence delivers something far more personal and intentional. This wasn’t “we pressed your shirt” service. This was we are now part of your life event service.
Months before arrival, I reached out explaining that our French son would be surprising Matt for his birthday and asked if they could help coordinate. Within minutes, the reservations manager responded—not only confirming they would help, but proactively upgrading us to a larger room to accommodate Marius, complimentary as returning guests. It was immediate, thoughtful, and frictionless.
Then the head butler reached out—and this is where things went from excellent to borderline absurd (in the best way). Over the course of months, we worked together to choreograph the entire surprise: timing, entry, coordination with staff, and how to preserve the moment for Matt.
What struck me most wasn’t just the outcome—it was the investment. They spent real time, over multiple emails, refining details for something that wasn’t guaranteed revenue. We could have canceled up to 48 hours before arrival.
That’s the difference here:
This team doesn’t operate transactionally. They operate like hosts who take genuine pride in what they create for you.

Arrival / Check-In
Arrival feels like stepping into a different version of travel—one that’s slower, more intentional, and frankly, more elegant.
We pulled up to the property and were immediately greeted by the doorman, who welcomed us by name and smoothly transitioned us inside. There’s no awkward standing around, no figuring out where to go—everything flows.
Behind the scenes, the butler team had already coordinated with reception to ensure there was no mention of Marius. Everyone—from the front desk to the staff escorting us upstairs—was aligned without it ever feeling rehearsed.
Check-in itself was quick and unobtrusive. Within minutes, we were being escorted to our room, where another surprise awaited: a full suite upgrade, complete with two bathrooms.
Matt assumed this was due to status. In reality, it was the hotel quietly continuing to support the plan they had helped build—anticipating what we would need before we even asked.
That level of awareness is rare.
The Room
The room is where the property fully leans into its identity—and it works.
This is not modern luxury. There’s no attempt to strip things down or make it feel minimalist. Instead, the space embraces its history: hand-painted walls, rich textures, ornate details, and a sense that you are staying somewhere with real legacy.
The suite felt expansive without being cold. The bedding was exceptional, the bathrooms were large and beautifully finished, and every detail—from lighting to layout—felt intentional.






And then there are the small touches.
The butlers left curated treats in the room, refreshed throughout the stay, and everything felt considered rather than standardized. Nothing about the experience felt mass-produced.

It’s the kind of room where you don’t just sleep—you linger.
The Food
We only experienced the Winter Garden, but it alone justifies the property’s reputation.
The room itself is breathtaking—vaulted ceilings, natural light pouring in, live music in the background. It feels less like a hotel restaurant and more like stepping into a Florentine salon.

Breakfast, included through Matt’s status, was extensive without feeling overwhelming. A full buffet, made-to-order dishes, excellent coffee, and attentive service that struck the right balance between present and unobtrusive.

But again, it’s the details.
The benefit technically covered two guests. Without hesitation or discussion, the hotel included Marius as well. No awkward moment, no bill adjustment—just a quiet decision to do the generous thing.
Later, as we waited for the boy’s arrival, we returned for dessert and mocktails. The pacing, the atmosphere, the music—it all built anticipation in a way that felt almost cinematic.
Overall
There are luxury hotels that are beautiful. There are luxury hotels with good service. And then there are properties like this—where everything comes together in a way that feels deeply personal and almost effortless.
The St. Regis Florence is not trying to be trendy. It’s not trying to impress you with novelty. Instead, it leans into something far more difficult to execute: consistency, intuition, and care.
This isn’t just a hotel stay—it’s an experience that feels thoughtfully constructed around you.
And that’s why, without hesitation, this remains our Florence hotel.

Booking Perks (Why This Matters)
One of the biggest misconceptions about booking luxury hotels is that you have to choose between perks or loyalty points. With properties like The St. Regis Florence, that’s simply not true.
When you book through me, you still receive all standard Marriott Bonvoy benefits—points, elite night credits, and status recognition—but you also unlock additional preferred-partner perks. These typically include daily breakfast for two, a $100 hotel credit, priority for upgrades, and early check-in/late check-out when available.
In other words, you’re not giving anything up—you’re just layering more on top of what you already get. And as this stay showed, those perks often translate into real, tangible value (like breakfast seamlessly extended to Marius or thoughtful upgrades that go beyond status alone).
Bluntly: if you’re booking a property like this without added perks, you’re leaving value on the table.

This is where the hotel really shines—it’s not for everyone, but for the right traveler, it’s exceptional:
