4.7/5 Stars

Perched above the Ordino valley, Serras Andorra is a sleek, modern mountain retreat that balances design-forward comfort with the quiet drama of the Pyrenees. It pairs generous accommodations and a destination spa with easy access to hiking, skiing, and Andorra’s understated alpine culture.

Serras Andorra

Andorra is a small principality tucked into the eastern Pyrenees between France and Spain. Known for its dramatic mountain landscapes, it offers a quieter, less trafficked alpine experience than its larger neighbors.

We chose to stay at Serras Andorra for one night to break up our drive between Barcelona and Tarbes, France. While slightly out of the way, it felt like a worthwhile detour—and an easy way to finally check Andorra off the list.

Booking

Andorra has a limited hotel scene, so we chose Serras confidently, knowing and loving the brand from our stay in Barcelona. Like its sister property, Serras Andorra is a 5-star boutique hotel. I booked through Fora and received the usual preferred-partner perks:

  • Daily breakfast for two
  • Early check-in / late check-out (subject to availability)
  • Room upgrade (subject to availability)
  • $100 USD hotel credit
  • Arrival gift

The Grounds

The grounds at Serras Andorra are compact and cohesive, designed to feel integrated into the mountain rather than spread across it. A warm, contemporary lobby bar anchors the main lodge, flowing naturally into the restaurant and terrace with sweeping valley views. Below, the standout spa features an impressive water circuit and indoor pool. With its own beginner ski slope and easy access to surrounding trails, everything feels connected and walkable—more mountain retreat than resort sprawl.

Arrival

We arrived just as a blizzard was rolling in, and the staff met our car immediately, taking our bags and valeting the vehicle. After a long drive from Barcelona, this was especially appreciated. We were welcomed with cold towels and a drink, then given a brief tour of the property before heading to our room.

Room

Our room was bright and open, with large windows and two balconies overlooking the mountains. The alpine aesthetic felt warm and appropriate for the setting. The bathroom was spacious, though slightly dated compared to the rest of the room.

Food

We used our $100 hotel credit for both lunch and dinner on property. Lunch was served in the lobby bar, where we tried Andorran croque monsieur—richer and more mushroom-forward than the French version, and very satisfying.

Mocktails at lunch

Dinner in the restaurant was elegant and well-executed, with a menu heavily focused on pork (a reminder that kosher dining is not exactly top of mind in Andorra).

Dinner

Breakfast the following morning was served in the same restaurant and included a buffet plus made-to-order hot dishes. Everything was good, though the coffee situation—two machines that repeatedly broke down—felt like a miss for a 5-star hotel. At this level, coffee should be served.

Spa

We booked a couples massage the following morning, which turned out to be the right call as heavy snow made travel down the mountain impossible for several hours. The spa itself is serene and well designed. That said, one of the therapists was clearly ill and coughed throughout the treatment, which unfortunately detracted from the experience—even though she wore a mask.

Overall

Despite a few small slips, Serras Andorra is a lovely property and an excellent place to break up a journey between Spain and France. With strong design, an impressive spa, and a calm mountain setting, it works best when approached as a retreat rather than a destination in itself.

Best part though was leaving because next stop was………The Boy!!!!
