I know I know, every tourism book tells you to skip the hotel restaurant and dine somewhere the locals eat. While I am sympathetic towards that viewpoint, I do have one question…why can’t I do that for lunch and eat dinner at my wonderful luxurious hotel? Matt and I are about to trek across the Atlantic for a vacation in Italy and Austria. We will be dining out of course, but we are mostly looking forward to dining in. We love a hotel restaurant.

The Vana Belle Koh Samui. This lobster was better than anything I’ve had in Maine.

One of the true benefits of staying at the best hotels in the world is that they often have the best restaurants. No I am not referring to a suburban Marriott that has an American style restaurant off the lobby. I am talking about Michelin winning chefs opening up restaurants at the St. Regis Florence, or the Four Seasons Mexico City or the Ritz Carlton Hong Kong. Matt and I stayed at the Edition London and we dined at Berners Taven widely considered a top London restaurant. The reviews were correct, it was wonderful. Let’s walk through why I love a good luxury hotel restaurant.

Berners Tavern

It is bougie.

Fancy restaurants in Luxury hotels are often quite expensive (more on that below). You will never have to worry about dining with peasants. There is something about dressing up in a suit, walking through the beautiful lobby (usually with live music) and the restaurant host uttering ‘good evening Mr. and Mr. Reiser your table is ready.

You Can Always Get a Reservation

If you are staying at the hotel and you email the concierge in advance, then I assure you that you will get in. No need to worry about anything, the beauty of a luxurious hotel.

You Can Charge It to the Room

Charging it to the room means more points at check out if you have status.

The Food Is Excellent

A luxury hotel is going to have excellent food as their reputation are on the line!

Easy Logistics

No need to catch and uber or walk. I can just waltz downstairs 10 minutes before my reservation. When we are finish, we can waltz back up! Then I get to shower and go straight to bed, bliss!

This wasn’t the worst room to return to…

It’s Free

What? How is it free? Well if you book your hotel through me then you receive a 100 USD hotel credit. When you are sober like Matt and I, our entire meal is generally covered by that credit.

Final Thoughts

Remember, by luxury hotel I am not referring to an all-inclusive or even some 5-star hotels. I am talking about the best of the best and they have wonderful restaurants. Let’s book your next vacation and simultaneously reserve you dinner at a top restaurant at your destination.

Bon Voyage,

Andrew
