Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to airport lounges. Now that Matt and I are sober and are not particularly big eaters our priorities have changes. Alcohol choices, massive buffets or gimmicks like Peloton bikes no one uses really do not appeal to us for our vacation travels. On top of that, so many of the ‘better’ lounges are often packed at peak times and I find it sometimes quieter in the terminal!
Characteristics of the Best Lounges
Plenty of space: The best lounges have ample seating, are spread out and are quiet.
Quality Over Quantity Food: I hate buffets and do not want to eat too much at an airport lounge. I just want something good especially before boarding my flight where I will eat again (assuming business long-haul)
Showers: Being naked and showering in the airport is so liberating. Showering before or after a long flight is life changing.
Nice Bathrooms: I have been in beautiful lounges with bathrooms you were think were from a prison.
Outdoor Space: I love an outdoor space to get some fresh air at an airport lounge before being stuck on a plane.
As you can see, my list is pretty basic. I just want a quiet space with good food and nice bathrooms. Should be easy to find, right? Ha!
My Favorite Lounges
Chase Lounge Boston and Dulles
The Chase Lounges have a lovely interior with excellent food cook to order served by waiters. They each have shower suites and they do a good job crowd controlling too. Although sometimes there is a wait to get in.

Cathay Pacific Business London
My favorite lounge in the world. A noodle bar preparing fresh dim sum!

Swiss Business Zurich
Not the most exciting lounge but I love the terrace overlooking the mountains.

Emirates Business, Dubai
As corporate as a lounge can get but it is massive with plenty of seating, tons of showers and ample dining options with tasty food. For a very crowded hub, they do a great job plus they have barista made coffee!

United Arrivals Lounge, London
A quiet lounge to shower and have a cooked to order breakfast before a day in London.

The Chelsea Lounge, JFK
Only international first-class passengers, no peasants. Very quiet with excellent served food. No business travelers, no credit card travelers, almost no children…bliss.

What About Polaris?
I know I am going to get heat for this, but they have gone downhill and are overcrowded during peak times. The food is okay but not anything I would go out of my way for.
Delta One?
In fairness I have not been to one yet to know.
What are your favorites?
Bon Voyage,
Andrew
