Since we only spent a day in Boston and a vast majority of our time at the Langham hotel, I figured I would combine blog posts by incorporating our trip diary with the review of the Langham Hotel. Matt and I decided to stay a night at the Langham since since we had to drop Marius off on a Sunday for his abandonment and we left for Italy the following morning. It did not make sense to go back and forth from Maine.

See You Later

I will leave our feelings about saying goodbye to the boy between us and Marius. We were very sad to see him go, but could not be more proud of him. We cannot wait to visit him in December!

The Langham Value Prop

The Langham markets itself as a luxury property in a historical building offering a 5-star urban experience. Did it meet its expectations?

Booking the Langham

We chose the Langham because the rate was good considering it is a luxury property. Even though I do get perks at the Langham as a Fora Advisor, I booked using my annual 300 USD Capital One Venture X Credit. The card costs $375 a year, but with the annual 300 USD credit plus the 10,000 annual points bonus worth 100 USD, the card easily pays for itself. The Langham is a Capital One Premier Partner so we received the following benefits.

  • Early Check-In/Late Check-Out
  • 100 USD Credit
  • Free Breakfast for 2
  • Upgrade to Next Category

The room was basically free with my annual Capital One credit.

Our Room

Since we were just using the room to camp/work in between dropping the boy off and departing to Italy the following day, we tragically booked the cheapest room with a queen bad. Thankfully we were upgraded to a Premier King Room which was small, but comfortable. The bed was lovely, we had a nice view of a park and the bathroom was lovely.

Location

The Langham is located perfectly. It is a 5 minute walk to Quincy Market and the Seaport. We walked both, enjoying the Capital One Café (where we get 50% our drinks, another perk of our credit card) and enjoyed an ice cream in Quincy Market.

Food

The Langham has 2 restaurants. Breakfast and lunch are served in Grana and dinner is served in The Fed, an upscale Irish pub. Since we had a 100 USD credit to use, we ate dinner the the Fed and it was excellent. We decided to have a few mocktails and a bunch of appetizers. Everything was good.

Breakfast at Grana was lovely. We were given an 85 dollar credit and that was more than enough for the two of us. I loved it was all off a menu as I really do not like buffets.

Service

I would say the service was good, but not memorable. A slight ding for a 5-star hotel although they do not price themselves as an ultra-luxurious hotel so it aligned.

Overall

The Langham was an excellent choice for our purpose of working and enjoying an afternoon in Boston before our flight. We would not hesitate to return. While I thought service could be a bit more premier, the property is quite a bit cheaper than its competitors.

4.7/5.
