Andrew and Matt took me to New York City and we stayed at the Luxury Collection (LC) Hotel. The LC is a 5-star hotel and part of the Marriott Bonvoy program. This is the second 5-star hotel I have stayed at during my time in the USA. How was the LC? How does it compare to my other experience at the Ritz Carlton FLL?

Location

The location of the LC could not be better. It was a perfect spot, close to everything, but on a side street so it was quiet. It was super easy to get around without all the noise.

Room

We were in a one-bedroom suite and it was perfect for the 3 of us. Andrew and Matt and a large bedroom and I got the couch in the living room. We had lovely views of the city too.

Bathroom

Shower had great pressure, lighting was solid, and there were plenty of mirrors. Towels were soft too. Only minus: the bathroom door didn’t lock.

Service

Staff were really nice—opened doors for us, helped with luggage, and made sure everything was okay. There was a small café and a gym (didn’t use it though). Room service took a bit long, which is why it’s not a 5. (Andrew’s note: Jeez, the boy is tough!)

Breakfast was good!

Compared to Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale:

Ritz was almost twice the price, but honestly not worth it. Staff didn’t really care much, just gave us basic info. Way better experience in NYC for a lower price.

Additional Notes From Andrew

Marious nailed it above. The LC NYC is an interesting property. LC is supposed to be Marriott’s 5-star collection of independent hotels that are meant to have character, uniqueness and excellent service. There was nothing unique about this hotel (especially the name). Yet as the boy describes above, the hotel provided great value and 5-star amenities in an excellent location. We would happily return.

Thank you very much Andrew and Matt!
